Every lot is sent to an outside accredited laboratory before it goes on sale. These are the results. All fifteen, in full, including the one that came in under label.
Five things a purity number will never tell you
Ninety nine percent pure is one measurement. Here is everything it does not look for, in plain words, with the name of the test underneath.
- Whether anyone looked for lead
- Lead, mercury, arsenic, cadmium and chromium. Five metals the lab goes looking for on every lot. A purity test looks for none of them, because purity only measures how much of the vial is the compound. It never asks what the rest of it is.
- Live bacteria
- Is anything growing in it. The lot gets cultured and the result you want to read is no growth detected. Nothing else counts as sterile.
- Dead bacteria
- What bacteria leave behind once they die. It survives sterilisation, so a vial can be perfectly sterile and still carry it. Measured in EU per mg. Lower is better.
- How much is actually in there
- Labelled amount against assayed amount. A vial can be 99% pure and still hold less than the label says, because those are two different questions and most vendors only answer the first.
- A laboratory with a name
- Every report here was issued by a named, accredited lab, and the accreditation number is printed so you can check it. "Third party tested" with nobody's name on it is not a test result. It is a sentence.
